PK 164+31.1, located in the constellation of Lynx, is a 14th magnitude planetary nebula. It lies at a distance of approximately 1600 light years from Earth. It was discovered photographically in 1939 by Rebecca Jones and Richard Emberson. The "PK" designation is its number in the Perek-Kohoutek catalog of planetary nebulae.
This image was captured on April 6, 2013, using the Celestron C-11 at f/2 using the HyperStar imaging system and the Starlight Express SXVR-H694C One-shot color CCD camera. Guided, captured and combined using Maxim DL5 Pro. Post-processed using PhotoShop CS2, Levels, curves, Gradient XTerminator, Carboni's AstroTools and NoiseWare.
