NGC-6992 is the eastern arc of the Veil Nebula complex located in the constellation of Cygnus the swan. This is a large bubble of expanding gas generated by the explosion of a massive star between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. It lies at a distance of approximately 2600 light years from Earth.
This image was acquired on the evening of August 4th, 2025. It is a 2 hour integration of 2 minute exposures through the AT-92 92mm f/5.5 APO Triplet refractor, using the ZWO 2600MC Pro one shot color camera, cooled to 0 degrees C and binned 1 X 1. Captured using N.I.N.A., guided by PHD2, combined and calibrated using PixInsight, and post processed using PhotoShop 2025.
