M-108 (Spiral Galaxy) and M-97 (Planetary Nebula)

M-108 (NGC-3556) is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Ursa Major. It lies approximately 46 million light years from Earth. It was discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1782.
M-97 (NGC-3587) Commonly called the Owl Nebula, is a planetary nebula located in Ursa major just over a degree from M-108. It lies approximately 2,000 light years from Earth.
This image was captured on the evening of May 13, 2026. It is a 3 hour integration of 60 second exposures through a 92mm f/5.5 APO Triplet refractor using the ZWO 2600 MC Pro 26 megapixel color camera cooled to -0 degrees and binned 1 X 1. Captured in NINA, guided by PHD2, processed in PixInsight and post processed using PhotoShop 2026.
