
Image of the Month
M-67 (NGC-2682) is an open star cluster in the constellation of Cancer the Crab. It was discovered by Kohler in 1779 and by Charles Messier the same year. It lies approximately 2600 light years from Earth and is about 20 light years in diameter. Its age is estimated at 3.5 billion years. Nearly all of its stars are at the same distance and age.
This image, acquired on March 20, 2015, is a 20 minute integration of 2 minute exposures through the Celestron C-11 at f/2, using the HyperStar III imaging system and the Starlight Express SXVR-H694C color CCD camera, operating at -10 degrees below ambient temperature and binned 1 X 1. Guided, captured and combined using Maxim DL5 Pro. Post processed using PhotoShop CS2, Gradient XTerminator, StarShrink,
